Welcome to Postcards from Pembrokeshire (259/365)
Today’s Postcard: Trinant, Preseli
And finally the sun came out and we were on my favourite B road near Rosebush, over the cattle grid and up into Bro Preseli. This tiny farm jumped out and said buy me, paint me. My accountant Watson Jones advised me against the former but conceded to the latter, so here we are.
Paint: (on my Ritec Red homemade earthy paint): I tiptoed around this one a bit but in the end I decided to keep it simple, so I used Ivory Black and Burnt Umber first off for the sketch, Viridian for the gorse and then a combination of Indian Red, Flesh Tint and Naples Yellow for the sheds and Burnt Sienna with some Cadmium Yellow Deep for the roof; skies of Cobalt Blue and Titanium White, Watson’s Tail with Cadmium Yellow for the coconut-smelling gorse flowers. I love this place.
Brush: Size 6 filbert (hog); sizes 00 and 2 round (synthetic).
I hope that you like the painting,
Watson Jones: cairn terrier (is he really nearly 4 yrs old?); family book-keeper and turf accountant.
