Welcome to Postcards from Pembrokeshire (300/365)
Today’s Postcard: Marloes
Denial is the way forward. It is not June and midsummer is as distant as Neptune. The sun has emerged, my socks are drying on the line and all is well. All I need now is for Watson Jones to pull his weight in the greenhouse (rocket and spinach have bolted rather) and all will be well. Here’s one of the finest beaches in the west.
Paint: (on top of my Ritec Red homemade earth paint): The sky of Kings Blue Pale (tinted with Titanium White) works for the sea but with a bit of Cobalt, Kings Blue Pale and a touch of Titanium White and Light Pink make the sea and sky with some Lapis Lazuli and Sap Green around the shallows and the rocks. Cliffs of Ivory Black, Permanent Mauve and Prussian Blue, scuffed with Sap Green and Raw Umber. Watson painted the breaking waves with his tail.
Brush: Size 4 filbert (hog and dog bristle); Size 2 round (synthetic).
Hwyl, hope you like the painting,
Watson Jones: our 4 yr old scruffy cairn; paint apothecary and studio technician.
