Welcome to Postcards from Pembrokeshire (98/365)
Today’s Postcard: Stormy skies, Lydstep Perfunctory: a dutiful (and drenching) two minute dash around the immediate hedges and paths with a bemused and underwhelmed dog at 6.45am. Leaves in soggy piles as deep as duvets (though slightly less fragrant) normally appeal to the dog, but this morning his brisk focus upon the task was admirable. For a dog born on a Welsh mountain and of Scottish origin, his low rain-tolerance astounds me. Home via Lydstep, the stark and dark contrasts were breathtaking, so here we are. Paint: (on my Ritec Red homemade earth paint): Ivory Black and Permanent Mauve for the dark underpainting; skies of P.Mauve and Phthalocyanine Blue, sea of Kings Blue Pale. Trees and grasses lightly done with Flesh Tint, Dioaxine Purple, Blu Turchese, Cadmium Green Pale, Chrome Orange, scrumpled up beech leaf, soggy bracken frond. Brush: Sizes 2fand 4 filbert (hog); Size 1 round (synthetic). Hope you like the painting, look after your wellies, Hwyl, Guy http://www.postcardsfrompembrokeshire.com Cast: Watson Jones, our 3yr old Cairn, submariner, pool attendant.
