Welcome to Postcards from Pembrokeshire (130/365)
Today’s Postcard: The holly and ivy path
A half-hidden path behind a gate on the Hean Castle estate; old beech trees, the holly and the ivy, pink light and leaves. Another short Christmas blog. I’ve put the stuffing under the tree and the sprouts into the wreath and I’ve hardly wrapped a thing.
Paint: (on my Ritec Red homemade earth paint): Viridian Green with a touch of Burnt Umber make up the dark banks and treetrunks. The ruddy earth ground paint is perfect for the path with just a touch of Naples Yellow, Burnt Sienna and Permanent Mauve for the shadows. Viridian for the holly and ferns, and the holly highlights are painted with Kings Blue Pale mixed into the Viridian too.
Brush: Size 2 filbert (hog bristle); Size 2 round (synthetic).
Hope you like the painting,
