Welcome to Postcards from Pembrokeshire (57/365)
Today’s Postcard: Out the window
I’ve no superlatives left for these mornings so I’m just going to ramble on: huge red sun, afterglow of it followed my gaze when I stop looking at it. On the sea were perfect horizontal lines, stripes of deep and pale alternatives across to Gower. Watson and I jumped from boulder to boulder to Wisemans and back like young goats and he skimmed stones while I played Huckleberry Finn. Rock pools like turquoise boiled sweets. Oystercatchers by the shore. A scarf n soup day.
Well, soup anyway. I made soup and soda bread with the windows and doors open and then looked out the window and here’s the painting:
Paint (on my homemade Ritec Red ground paint). Darks of Permanent Mauve and Viridian, touch of Bunt Umber; Cadmium Green Pale for the field with Light Pink and Kings Blue Light; hedge highlights using Flesh Tint, Naples Yellow, Blu Turchese, Yellow Ochre. Trying to build up contrasts, light, dark, light etc.
Brush: Size 1 and 2 filbert (hog).
Hope you like the painting,
Watson: our 3 yr old Cairn terrier, sand miner
