Today’s Postcard: Woods in sea mist
Like a nosey person I followed a raven through the woods to see where it was nesting. I lost it but that was Watson’s fault because he went after an invisible squirrabbit at full chat and in full voice. Before the tiny green lettuce leaves emerge from these slim beech trees I wanted to paint their latticed lines, like rose windows before the glaziers arrive. The early misty stuff added an ethereality that I can’t even pronounce.
Paint: (on my Ritec Red homemade earth paint): Titanium White and a dainty dab of Kings Blue Pale for the skies (which I couldn’t see); then simply Cobalt Blue and the same white in differing tint values for the trees. My brother will no doubt tell me to add a dramatic buzzard….
Brush: Size 12 filbert (bristle); Sizes 00 and 2 round (synthetic sable).
I hope that you like the painting.
Where’s Watson Jones: an imperious (well, impy) cairn; I disowned him this morning, and him me, and we ignored each other until breakfast.
