Welcome to Postcards from Pembrokeshire (163/365)
Today’s Postcard: A walk in the woods
After a dawn beach walk to Saundersfoot harbour we turned back and went up into the woods. Watson is clearly putting poor rookie Chaucer through some kind of special forces training: every now and again he’d jump out from behind a bush or fern and chase Chaucer between trees at full chat. Chaucer is better at moving up the gears than his assailent but Watson has a lower ratio and his acceleration belies his short wheel base stature. I was trying to follow the knocking of a woodpecker. These are the woods between Coppet Hall and Wisemans.
Paint: (on my Ritec Red homemade earth paint): apart from the odd base of Burnt Umber for the trees, the following colours (some tinted with Titanium White) have been used throughout: Cadmium Green Pale, Permanent Mauve, Flesh Tint, Viridian, Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Kings Blue Pale, Burnt Sienna.
Brush: Size 2 filbert (hog). Size 2 round (synthetic).
Hope you like the painting,
Chaucer: long nosed fox terrier, ten months, National Service, gull fancier;
Watson Jones: dark n stormy cairn, 40 months, officer class, special beach service.
